5 teams in the Super Bowl window in 2020

With the NFL season now under a month away, let us look at who is in the Super Bowl window for the 2020 season. Training camp is now well underway, and every franchise thinks they have what it takes to lift the Lombardi Trophy, but really there is only a select few who can seriously challenge this season. Here are my top 5 teams in the Super Bowl bubble this season.

1. Kansas City
The defending Super Bowl champs. How could you not have them at number 1? With gunslinger Patrick Mahomes and an embarrassment of riches on offence that includes pro bowl tight end Travis Kelce with receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, the Chiefs are loaded. Not to mention running Clyde Edwards-Helaire who they drafted from LSU and can cause some real damage. They will put up a lot of points, catch them if you can. Look out for the Chiefs in 2020.

2. Baltimore Ravens
Last season the Ravens broke all kinds of records or at least MVP Lamar Jackson did. Many pundits have even going as far as saying the Ravens could easily go 16-0 with their schedule this season. Personally, I cannot see them going unbeaten as that is a seriously hard task but if they can replicate their running game of last season, coupled with Jackson’s improvement at quarterback then expect the Ravens to win A LOT of games in 2020.

3. San Francisco 49ers
Having made it to the Super Bowl last season I expect the 49ers to be right up there challenging for the NFC title. Jimmy Garoppolo, along with pro bowl tight end George Kittle and running back Raheem Mostert the 49ers are a serious challenge for any team. One thing that may go against them is their division. It is stacked. The Seahawks, LA Rams and the up and coming Arizona Cardinals who they will all have to play twice, just getting out of their division would be a great effort, something that I think they are more than capable of.

4. New Orleans Saints
Any team that has Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara on offence will clearly put up a lot of points throughout the season. Add to that defensive studs in Cameron Jordan and Marshon Lattimore the Saints are a well-balanced football team. When the conversation of who is in the mix for the Super Bowl gets going, the Saints are in that group who can go all the way.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccs were a decent enough team last season but just needed that polish at quarterback and boy did they get it. Tom Brady making the switch from the Patriots along with Rob Gronkowski coming out of retirement the Buccs have some serious weapons. Brady will have something at his disposal that he has not had since the days of Randy Moss. A true number one receiver in Mike Evans. Add Chris Godwin along with tight end OJ Howard and running back LeSean McCoy and now you are talking about a seriously potent offence. I was a little hesitant about putting the Buccs in at 5 but with the wealth of attacking options and defensive stars it is hard to see them not making the playoffs at least.

There you have it. My 5 teams that should be making a serious run at the Super Bowl in 2020. Other notable mentions include the Dallas Cowboys who clearly have the talent to make it onto this list but have not shown the consistency necessary to make a deep playoff run. Along with the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks who for me rely way too heavily on their star quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers an Russell Wilson to win games and that has proven to be their downfall at times. This will be a season like no other, football will be back soon and honestly, I cannot wait.
